MIT and U. Southampton Team to Guide the Web

CAMBRIDGE, MA --

MIT and the University of Southampton in the UK have decided to collaborate on research into the future design of the World Wide Web.

The research efforts, which will be primarily located on MITs campus, will focus on determining the underlying challenges facing the web in scientific, social and technical arenas.

Among the initiative's founding directors are Tim Berners-Lee, director of the W3 Consortium and Daniel Weitzner, principal research scientist at MIT.
